The days of lounging by the pool, visiting the beach with friends or spending all day playing video games are unfortunately over. I hope you enjoyed your relaxing days of summer and are ready and willing to begin a challenging year of academics in grade 8. It is important you prepare yourself for this significant time ahead of you. This year you will be responsible for much more and be expected to behave on a higher level than years past. You must prepare yourself for the challenges and difficulties you may experience but be assured it is all apart of your learning process and overall development.
First of all, congratulations for being the pros of the INTERMEDIATE DIVISION here at Forest Hill! Grade 8 brings many unique opportunities that will present themselves early and continue to develop over the course of the year. Your maturity and trustworthiness will have you in high demand. Right off the bat you will be asked to volunteer for various positions around the school and your contributions will be noticed and appreciated. You will need to decide what you want to get involved in.
It is necessary that I now anoint you the official leaders of the school. Yes, that now means people will always be watching you: younger students, other teachers, staff and visitors to our school will look to you for guidance and leadership. I hope you use your power wisely. If I can offer some advice that may serve useful to your grade 8 preparation, you must remember to be ready to meet challenges head on, always try your best, and that you will only get out of this year what you put into it. I wish you all the best this year!
