Class Expectations
Communication: An app called Remind will send a daily text to parents about homework and upcoming dates and important info. Simply text @aeb6kd to this # (705) 230-2293. Students are encouraged to do this as well so updates can be sent directly to them as well.
This blog will be useful to both parents and Students as it provides information on activities we have done in class as well as gives access to assignment success criteria. CopelandClass has a twitter account linked to the bottom of this first webpage. Quick updates will be posted on there or parents may choose to Follow @copeland_class on twitter to receive notifications. Additionally, we have an Instagram account; copelandclass, where learning will be visually documented, so you may have an eye into our class awesome-sauce! Please refer back to these sites regularily to stay informed on all dates, events and class info.
Homework: It is expected that all homework, projects, and assignments be completed at school, as sufficient time will always be allotted. If a student works diligently during class time there will be very little homework to complete. However there is always maintenance efforts that students may continue to work on and improve. Some examples are, reviewing daily concepts, rewriting notes, organizing notebooks, making study notes, practice basic math skills, independently reading etc.
Tests and Quizzes: It is expected that students study and prepare for all assessments. Students will be taught a variety of strategies to assist them with success. In most subjects, a study guide will be provided in class outlining the main topics and focus areas. The exception to this is Math, which is practiced daily.
Phys-Ed: Students are expected to have appropriate gym clothing, footwear and deodorant. This preparation will be necessary for success.
Cell Phones & Ipods: In our digital world technology is a very important part of our learning model. They are a welcomed and encouraged inclusion to our classroom when used appropriately (listening to music, as an E-reader for independent reading, access internet, to photograph and to document success etc). Students will be instructed when appropriate times and must respect the rule that they are invisible/in bags at all other times. Please review the school Board Policy on technology on page 9 & 10 in your child's agenda.
Absences: All missed work must be completed. Students are expected to advocate for themselves and acquire missed work/assignments immediately upon their return. Every student will have a personalized folder that all missed sheets or documents will be put into.
